Subjects for debate on 16 December and 13 and 20 January

The Backbench Business Committee is responsible for scheduling debates on 35 days during the current session, at least 27 of which will be debates in the main Chamber of the House of Commons, with the remainder to be taken in Westminster Hall.
The Committee has determined that the following business will take place in backbench time:
Thursday 16 December in the Chamber (second half)
Motion in the name of Margaret Hodge relating to the work of the Committee of Public Accounts
The Backbench Business Committee chose this subject after hearing representations from the Public Accounts Committee. The work of the Committee has not been debated so far this session.
Thursday 13 January in Westminster Hall
Impact of the Comprehensive Spending Review on the Department for Communities and Local Government (Member in charge: Mr Clive Betts)
The Committee chose this subject because there is significant support from Members for a wide-ranging debate on the effects of reductions in expenditure on the work of the Department and on local government, including representations for a debate from the Communities and Local Government Select Committee and Mr David Lammy.

Anti-Semitism (Members in charge: Mike Freer and John Mann)
A debate on Anti-Semitism was suggested by Mike Freer and John Mann, on behalf of the All Party Parliamentary Group against Anti-Semitism. The Committee chose to schedule this subject for debate in advance of Holocaust Memorial Day on 27 January.
