The Backbench Business Committee is responsible for scheduling debates on 35 days during the current session, at least 27 of which will be debates in the main Chamber of the House of Commons, with the remainder to be taken in Westminster Hall.

The Committee has determined that the following business will take place in backbench time:

Thursday 16 December (half-day)

Motion relating to Park Homes

Annette Brooke

That this House notes that there are approximately 1,800 park home sites in England and Wales; further notes that current legislation permits a minority of park home owners to cause great distress, damage to property and danger to the health of park home residents; welcomes the Government’s intention to lay before the House secondary legislation to transfer jurisdiction for park homes to the Residential Property Tribunal Service; but calls on the Government to review the case for establishing a fit and proper person criterion for park home owners and to bring forward relevant legislation at the earliest opportunity to prevent in particular park home site owners interfering with the sale of a park home without good reason.

A debate on park homes was suggested by Annette Brooke, with support from a number of backbench Members. The Committee chose this subject because it addresses a constituency issue of importance to many backbenchers, which has not recently been debated in the Chamber.

Thursday 16 December in Westminster Hall

Drugs policy (Member in charge: Mr Bob Ainsworth)

The Committee heard representations from Mr Bob Ainsworth to debate this subject, which has also been raised during Business Questions. The Committee chose this subject as a topical issue of interest to backbenchers on both sides of the House.

Additional items of business for Thursday 2 December in the Chamber

Motions in the name of Margaret Hodge relating to Committee of Public Accounts (Amendment of Standing Orders).
