PASC to inquire into Good Governance and Civil Service Reform

The Public Administration Select Committee (PASC) today launches an inquiry into the government’s plans to reform the civil service as part of its wider interest in good governance.
As part of the inquiry the Committee is looking to devise a framework, or set of principles, within which the Civil Service can be effectively scrutinised and measured.
The Committee will examine the following issues:
- What is meant by the Prime Minister’s term “post bureaucratic age” and what its implications for good governance are.
- How the Civil Service may need to adapt and reform.
- How such reform can be sustained and realised.
PASC is inviting written evidence on issues relating to this inquiry. Full details are set out in the accompanying issues and questions paper.
PASC expects to start evidence sessions on the inquiry in the new year.
