MPs to question experts on voting reforms and constituency boundary changes

The Political and Constitutional Reform Committee will continue its examination of the government’s proposals for voting and parliamentary reform in a session on Tuesday 27 July in Committee Room 16 in the House of Commons
Evidence session on Tuesday 27 July
The Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill and the Fixed-term Parliaments Bill to implement these proposals have been published.
The meeting will be in two parts: at 10 am, the Committee will explore the government’s proposals to make all parliamentary constituencies roughly the same size in terms of numbers of voters. Topics will include the potential political impact of the government’s proposals and the practical implications of implementing them.

At 11 am, the Committee will look at the proposed referendum on the Alternative Vote. Topics will include the merits or otherwise of the Alternative Vote system, the proposed date of the referendum, and issues around campaigning and funding rules.
