Lords Committee questioned the Minister for Europe on the EEAS

The House of Lords EU Sub Committee for Foreign Affairs, Defence and Development Policy questioned the Minister for Europe about the European External Action Service (EEAS) on Wednesday 7 July.

The Committee asked David Lidington (Minister for Europe, Foreign and Commonwealth Office) about the latest developments in the EEAS and what strategic and operational priorities the Government think the EEAS should adopt.
The Minister was also asked about the workings of the EEAS, such as recruitment into the Service and funding, and the Committee also found out the Government views on the Service framework and how would work in the future.
Questions were asked about how the relationship between the EEAS delegations and Member State embassies will work, and accountability of the EEAS to the European and national Parliaments.
The evidence session took place at 11:00am on Wednesday 7 July in Committee Room 1 of the House of Lords.
