Chair of Science and Technology Committee elected

Following the elections for the posts of Select Committee Chair on Wednesday 9 June, Mr Andrew Miller MP has been elected by the House to be the Chair of the Science and Technology Committee.

Mr Miller will take up the position formally when the remaining members of the Committee are nominated by the House in the coming weeks.

Commenting on his appointment Mr Miller said: 

“I am delighted to have been elected Chair of the Science & Technology Select Committee.  I would like to see the Committee focussing its attention on helping to maintain the strength of the UK's science base and also improving public understanding of some of the challenging scientific issues facing us today.”

Mr Miller is Labour MP for Ellesmere Port and Neston and has been a Member of Parliament since 1992.
