MPs ask why motor insurance premiums are rising so fast
9 November 2010
The cost of motoring insurance has risen significantly over the past year, especially for the younger driver. In this session the Transport Committee looks at both the causes and consequences of this trend.
MPs are concerned to discover the extent to which the cost of motor insurance is influenced by the prevalence of road accidents, insurance fraud, legal costs and the number of uninsured drivers.
The committee is also keen to identify whether there are public policy implications that arise from the increasing cost of motor insurance and, if so, what steps the Government might take in response to this issue.
