MPs to question Environment Secretary on sustainable development

The Environmental Audit Committee will question Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) Secretary of State, Rt Hon Caroline Spelman MP, this afternoon on what the Government is doing to embed sustainability in Government operations and policy.

The Committee will also press her on whether enough is being done to:
- prevent premature deaths from air pollution, highlighted by the EAC in a report earlier this year (Environmental Audit Committee report: Air Quality)
- stop the sale of illegally logged timber in the UK
- meet international targets on protecting the world's natural diversity.
