The House of Lords EU Sub-Committee for Social Policies and Consumer Protection took evidence on Thursday 11 November, as part of its inquiry into Grassroots Sport, from Brigid Simmonds, Chair and James MacDougall, Head of Policy at CCPR.

The Committee asked the witnesses about the importance of participation in grassroots sports and the specific benefits that it can bring to particular groups including young people, migrants, women and the disabled, how participation can be increased and what barriers or obstacles there are which prevent sport from fulfilling its potential in the health, social and educational spheres and how the EU might act in these areas.
