Lords hear evidence from academic experts on economic governance inquiry

The House of Lords EU Sub-Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs and International Trade  heard evidence from academic experts as part of their inquiry on the future of economic governance in the European Union.

The Committee heard from Professor Charles Goodhart, Professor of Banking and Finance at the London School of Economics, Dr Waltraud Schelkle of the European Institute at the LSE and Dr Dermot Hodson of  Birkbeck College.

The witnesses were asked for their views on proposals for closer economic coordination within in the EU including proposals put forward by the European Commission and Herman Van Rompuy’s economic task force.
