Sir David Normington questioned on his new appointment

The Public Administration Select Committee (PASC) will hold a pre-appointment hearing on Tuesday 16 November, examining the professional competence and personal independence of the Government's preferred candidate for the dual post of First Civil Service Commissioner and Commissioner for Public Appointments, Sir David Normington KCB.

Sir David is currently the permanent secretary at the Home Office. He was previously permanent secretary at the Department for Education and Skills from 2001 to 2005. Sir David has also held a variety of other civil service posts. He will be retiring at the end of this year.

The session is open to the public and will be held at 10.30am in Committee Room 16.
