Lords EU Sub-Committee request evidence on Short Selling and Credit Default Swaps
23 November 2010
On 23 November the House of Lords EU Economic and Financial Affairs and International Trade Sub-Committee launched a limited Call for Evidence on the European Commission's proposal for a Regulation on short selling and certain aspects of credit default swaps, in order to inform its correspondence with the Government on this issue
The Committee have now had confirmation that the Commission’s proposal will not come before ECOFIN for agreement until the start of the New Year, and therefore the Committee has extended the deadline for the submission of written evidence to Friday 10 December.
The Sub-Committee is scrutinising this proposal and is calling for interested parties to submit evidence to inform its correspondence with the Government on this subject. The Committee will not be undertaking a formal inquiry or publishing a report.
