MPs on the Public Administration Select Committee will today seek clarity on how the Government intends to deal with compensation for Equitable Life policyholders.

This one-off session follows the publication of Sir John Chadwick’s report and Ministerial statements about compensation for Equitable Life policyholders.

Ann Abraham the Parliamentary Ombudsman will be appearing at 9.15am. Sir John Chadwick will give evidence at 9.55am. Mark Hoban MP, Financial Secretary to the Treasury will join the Committee at 10.35am. All of the sessions will take place in Committee Room 8.

There is general agreement that compensation should be fair. The session will be an opportunity for the Committee to try and determine what other areas of agreement, particularly with regard to the level of compensation, might exist and clarify areas of doubt or contention.
