The Education Committee today holds a second evidence session examining the nature and level of challenging behaviour in schools

Witnesses

  • At 9.15 am, Sir Alan Steer, author of reports on school discipline and behaviour and a former headteacher, gives evidence on the findings of his studies: the 2005 Practitioners’ Group on School Behaviour and Discipline, and a follow-up report in 2009.
  • At 10.00 am, Sue Bainbridge, leader for the improving behaviour in schools programme for National Strategies, which provides development programmes for school staff, gives evidence. The Committee will examine the impact of the guidance developed by National Strategies relating to behaviour, attendance and social and emotional aspects of learning.
