MPs review Millennium Development Goals Summit

The International Development Committee will question the Secretary of State, Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell MP, today on the outcomes of the recent UN Millennium Development Goals (MDG) summit in New York.

This is the first evidence session in the inquiry into the MDG Summit held on 20-22 September 2010. The MPs hope to assess Summit outcomes, including:

  • Department for International Development’s (DfID) role in delivering agreed strategies;
  • The role of the UN, the World Bank, the European Commission and Non Govermental Organisations (NGO) in securing and delivering Summit outcomes, and how these organisations will be held accountable for achieving them;
  • The role of developing countries in securing and delivering Summit outcomes;
  • Looking ahead to after the MDG deadline of 2015.

The session is open to the public and will be held in Committee Room 15, starting at 10.00am.
