Home Affairs Committee hold their first evidence session of their Firearms Control Inquiry

Purpose of Session

This is the Committee’s first session of its inquiry into firearms control. Representatives of leading shooting organisations will give evidence on the legislation and licensing processes that regulate the use of firearms in the UK, and the principal ways in firearms are used legitimately in the UK.

Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP, Chair of the Committee, said:

“After the recent tragedies in Whitehaven and Northumbria, clarifying which guns are currently legal in the UK, who can access them, how, and for what purposes, will be our first step towards establishing whether our firearms laws are fit for purpose.”
