MPs seek Scottish perspective on date of alternative vote referendum

The Scottish Affairs Committee invites individuals and organisations in Scotland to give their views on the date of the referendum on the alternative vote.
The Committee hopes these responses will add to and inform debate during the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill Committee stage in the House of Commons in October.
Background
The Scottish Affairs Committee recently organised an informal briefing from the Electoral Commission for all Scottish MPs, at which the issue of consultation on the date of the AV referendum was raised. The question was raised as to whether people in Scotland have been adequately consulted on the issue of the Scottish Parliament elections and a referendum being held on the same day.
The Committee is also visiting the Scottish Parliament on 30 September to discuss this issue with the Local Government and Communities Committee.
How to submit views
The Committee welcomes submissions by 4 October from interested parties on any, or all, aspects of the issue of the date of the Scottish Parliament elections and the AV referendum being held on the same day.
Submissions should be in Word or rich text format and sent by e-mail to scotaffcom@parliament.uk. The body of the e-mail must include a contact name, telephone number and postal address. The e-mail should also make clear who the submission is from. Submissions should not as a rule exceed 2,000 words.
