MPs to look at the issues facing farming in the uplands

The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee is to undertake a short inquiry into the issues facing farmers in the uplands and the recommendations for action by DEFRA made by the Commission for Rural Communities in their report High ground, high potential, published in June 2010.

Terms of Reference

In June 2010 the Commission for Rural Communities (CRC) published a report examining the challenges facing upland commmunities.

The Committee is interested in the Commission for Rural Communities’  recommendations for action to be undertaken by Defra. The Committee is seeking evidence from interested parties and invites submissions on:

  • the issues facing farmers in the uplands;
  • the farming communities’ response to the CRC’s recommendations outlined in their report High ground, high potential.

The Committee invites all interested parties to address these and related matters in writing by Thursday 14 October 2010. More information about the required format of submissions is given in the link below.
