The Political and Constitutional Reform Committee will take evidence from Mark Harper MP, Minister for Political and Constitutional Reform in the Cabinet Office, on Thursday 16 September.

The Committee is continuing its scrutiny of two government Bills currently making their way through the House of Commons:

The purpose of this session is to question the Government on the proposed reforms in the light of the evidence taken by the Committee since July.

Topics the Committee is likely to examine include:

  • the timetable of the Bills
  • the date of the referendum on the alternative vote
  • the rationale behind proposals for boundary changes and reducing the size of the House of Commons.
