The Political and Constitutional Reform Committee will take evidence from Electoral Commission representatives at 10 am on Tuesday 14 September.

The Committee is continuing its scrutiny of the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill and will ask the Electoral Commission about the implications of the Bill for the work of the Commission.

The Bill paves the way to hold a national referendum on using the alternative vote system at general elections, to reduce the size of the House of Commons, and to equalise the size of parliamentary constituencies.

The Electoral Commission is responsible for the conduct of referendums and for ensuring the accuracy of the result
