MPs to examine proposals for fixed-term parliaments

The Political and Constitutional Reform Committee will continue its examination of the Government’s proposals for voting and parliamentary reform in a session at 10am on Tuesday 7 September in Committee Room 8 in the House of Commons.

This will be the Committee’s only session to focus on the government Bill to implement fixed-term parliaments, which the House of Commons will be debating for the first time on the following Monday 13 September.
Questions are likely to focus on the constitutional impact and practical implications of the bill, for the House of Commons, for the Government, for political parties, and for the monarch.
