The invitation to submit applications for the posts of lay member has now closed.

Three appointments are to be made. Successful candidates will be required to attend the Committee for 4-10 days per year, for which they will receive a day rate of £300.

The lay members will take part in examining and challenging appointments to the IPSA (Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority) board, and ensuring that IPSA’s estimates of its use of resources are consistent with the efficient discharge of its functions.

Between them, they will bring experience of managing complex organisations (in any sector), knowledge of recruiting to high level appointments and of examining or setting budgets, ideally for public sector organisations. Individual members may bring one or more of these areas of experience.

The appointments are fixed term for not more than five years. The length of the three appointments will be staggered for greater continuity.
