A Joint Committee of MPs and Peers questioned Mr Keir Starmer QC (Director of Public Prosecutions) and Ms Sue Hemming (Head of Counter-Terrorism Division) on Tuesday 26 April about pre-charge detention legislation

The current Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation, Mr David Anderson QC, also gave evidence to the Committee.

The Committee is examining the draft Detention of Terrorist Suspects Bills.

The Committee asked witnesses for their views on the Government's proposal to reduce the time available for pre-charge detention to 14 days but to use the draft Bills to increase it to 28 days in an emergency.
