Bob Kerslake questioned on role as Head of Civil Service

As part of their inquiry into the role of the Head of the Civil Service, the Public Administration Select Committee will hear from Sir Bob Kerslake, who will take on the role of Head of the Civil Service on 1 January 2012 in addition to his current role as Permanent Secretary at the Department for Communities and Local Government. This session takes place on 19 December 2011 at 4.30pm in Committee Room 8.

The Committee will question Sir Bob on his priorities for his new post and how he plans to work with the new Cabinet Secretary and the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office. Issues that may arise include:

  • How Sir Bob will manage his dual role of Permanent Secretary and Head of the Civil Service;
  • Sir Bob’s plans for reforming the Civil Service; and
  • The future of Civil Service training and skills development
