The Committee has determined that the following business will take place in backbench time:

Motion relating to the recommendations of the Members' Expenses Committee report on the operation of the Parliamentary Standards Act 2009 (Member in charge: Adam Afriyie).

The Backbench Business Committee heard that Members would wish to consider the recommendations of the Members' Expenses Committee report on the operation of the Parliamentary Standards Act 2009, which established the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA).

Motion relating to financial education (Members in charge: Justin Tomlinson, Andrew Percy and Mark Garnier) (for at least three hours).

This is a topic of major public interest on which the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Financial Education for Young People is to publish a report. It has also been the subject of an e-petition entitled ‘Make financial education a compulsory part of the school curriculum’.

Remploy (Members in charge: Ann Clwyd, John McDonnell, Jim Dobbin and Dr Hywel Francis).

This topic affects the constituencies of a number of Members and has recently been the subject of a paper petition with over 100,000 signatures. The Backbench Business Committee also heard that Members wished to have an opportunity to give a view on the Remploy Annual Report and the recommendations of the Sayce report.

The Committee also heard representations from Mr Adrian Bailey and Brian Binley for a debate on a statutory code for pub companies, arising from recommendations of the Business, Innovation and Skills Committee. The timing of the debate will be considered at a future meeting of the Committee
