Cabinet Office Minister, Oliver Letwin MP (pictured) will appear before a House of Lords inquiry into Behaviour Change on Tuesday 15 February. His colleagues Anne Milton MP at the Department of Health and Norman Baker MP at the Department for Transport will also appear.

The House of Lords Science and Technology Sub-Committee will ask the Government to justify its use of ‘nudge’ principles, given the limited evidence that ‘nudging’ works. It will probe the Government on what it is doing in particular in the health and transport sectors.

The Sub-Committee is expected to raise particular questions over how ‘nudge’ policies are evaluated, and whether local authorities, who are charged with delivering health and transport services to local people, are equipped to put the Government’s visions on ‘nudging’ into practice.

It is also expected to investigate concerns raised in previous evidence sessions that the Government is failing to take relevant research adequately into account in designing its policies on behaviour change.

The evidence session will take place at in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords.
