The Committee will hear from from Lord Lang, the Chair of the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (ACoBA) about its work

This will be the first time the Committee has taken evidence from Lord Lang since his pre-appointment hearing in November 2009 and media coverage last March about retiring ex-ministers offering their services as lobbyists. This session takes place on Tuesday 8 February in Committee Room 21.

Witness:

  • At 10.30 am
    Lord Lang of Monkton DL, Chair, Advisory Committee on Business Appointments.

Particular issues which may be considered include:

  • ACoBA’s effectiveness in ensuring propriety over the future employment of former ministers and senior crown servants;
  • the wider issue of lobbying and the so-called ‘revolving door’ between Whitehall and business; and
  • the recent revision of the Business Appointment Rules.
