The Committee will ask Lord Jay about the Commission’s role in selecting new independent Members of the House of Lords and in vetting nominations put forward by the political parties. It will also explore the Commission’s relationship with the Prime Minister.

The Committee will ask about the size of the House of Lords in view of the fact that 100 new peers have been created since the General Election. And it will ask whether the House of Lords membership is diverse enough.

The evidence session will take place at 10:30am on Wednesday 16 February 2011 in Committee Room 1 of the House of Lords.
