Ministers before Lords committee

The Committee have been considering the impact of public procurement on innovation since October last year. They have already heard evidence from Government officials who acknowledged the role public procurement can play in providing innovative solutions.

The Ministers will be asked  about where in government  responsibility lies for ensuring innovation is a central part of the public procurement process, how the Government intends to tackle barriers to innovation within the public sector and what impact the public spending cuts might have in this area.

Also giving evidence on the day will be Andrew Quincey, Director Group Procurement, and Collan Murray, Senior Procurement Manager, both of Transport for London.

The evidence session with TFL will start at 10.30am on Tuesday 25 January in Committee Room 4 of the House of Lords. The session with the Ministers will follow at 11.30am.

The House of Lords Science and Technology Select Committee is conducting an inquiry into the Government’s use of procurement as a tool to stimulate innovation within industry. The inquiry will focus in particular on the Department for Transport and its related public bodies, as a working example of the current procurement practices within departments.
