This will be the Committee’s first evidence session with Sir David Normington since his pre-appointment hearing on 16 November 2010. Sir David took up his new post on 1 April 2011 and has been reviewing the current system for regulating public appointments. He recently published a consultation document setting out his proposals for reform

Particular issues to be explored  may include:

  • the proposals to simplify the Code of Practice and make the regulatory process more “light touch”;
  • implementation of a revised regime; and
  • the prospects for promoting  a more diverse pool of candidates;
