MPs take further evidence on constitutional change overseas

The Political and Constitutional Reform Committee will take evidence on Thursday 14 July at 10.00 am in The Grimond Room, Portculllis House. The witnesses are as follows:

This evidence session is the second in a series of two. The purpose of the sessions is to consider some examples of major constitutional change that have taken place or are about to take place in other European countries.
In this session an expert academic from Iceland will explain the process being undertaken there to redraft the constitution. Professor Sir Jeffrey Jowell and Professor Dawn Oliver, both leading experts in constitutional law, will then give evidence drawing more generally on international examples and consider some common themes of constitutional change.
The session, which forms part of the Committee’s inquiry Mapping the path to codifying – or not codifying – the UK’s constitution, will inform the Committee’s consideration of constitutional reform in the UK.
