Members of the Home Affairs Select Committee will hold a meeting with local stakeholders on Monday 13 June at the University of Cardiff as part of their inquiry into the New Landscape of Policing
The Committee’s inquiry is considering how to achieve more effective procurement in the police service, the removal of unnecessary bureaucracy, and greater collaboration between forces and with other private and public sector organisations.
It is also looking at the advantages and disadvantages of creating a new National Crime Agency, as proposed by the Government in its consultation paper Policing in the 21st Century. The Committee will be hearing evidence from a wide variety of witnesses, before reporting its findings to the Government.
Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP, Chair of the Committee, said:
“It is often only the great and the good that get their voices heard on matters like policing. This meeting is a valuable opportunity to engage with interested parties, be they members of the public, institutions or private companies, to discuss the future of the Police, an institution which directly affects the lives of every UK citizen.
I look forward to hearing their thoughts on what the top policing priorities should be and how well this is reflected in the Government’s current proposals”.
