Oral Evidence Session

The New Landscape of Policing
Tuesday 14 June 2011 at 11.30 am
Wilson Room

Purpose of session:

This is the Committee’s fifth evidence session for its inquiry into the New Landscape of Policing and it will focus on Tom Winsor’s review of police pay and conditions, and the reaction of the Police Federation to the review and to the Government’s proposals for policing reform more generally.

Committee Chair Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP said:

“Tom Winsor’s review has provoked a great deal of interest since it was published in the spring. The reforms he proposes to pay and conditions for the police would have a far-reaching effect.

The Committee will have the chance to question him about his proposals and get the reaction of the Chairman of the Police Federation, Paul McKeever who will be explaining the impact of Government proposals on police officers up and down the country.”

Witnesses:

At 11.30 a.m.
• Tom Winsor, Author of the Independent Review of Police Officer and Staff Remuneration and Conditions

At 12 noon
• Paul McKeever, Police Federation
