New Landscape of Policing

Purpose of session:

This is the Committee’s sixth evidence session for its inquiry into the New Landscape of Policing and it will focus on the collaboration between Kent and Essex Police, and on individual examples of best practice in policing.  The progress that has been made on collaboration between forces is one of the inquiry’s terms of reference. The Committee will also have a chance to ask the two best practice officers about wider issues, including morale and bureaucracy.

Committee Chair Rt hon Keith Vaz MP said:

“Kent and Essex Police began collaborating on operational functions and support services in 2007. This session provides an opportunity to discuss the challenges forces face in collaborative working and the potential savings this could bring. There will be time for discussion of best practice methods and possible remedies for reducing bureaucracy.”
