New Landscape of Policing

Purpose of session:

This is the Committee’s seventh and final major evidence session for its inquiry into the New Landscape of Policing.  It will focus on the role of the Metropolitan Police in the new landscape, the reaction of the Police Superintendents’ Association to the Government’s proposals, and the Government’s response to the points that have been raised during the course of the inquiry.

Committee Chair Rt hon Keith Vaz MP said:

“The Government’s plans for the new policing landscape include important changes to where responsibilities for strategic key police functions reside. The Metropolitan Police and Police Superintendants’ Associations are key police organisations at the centre of these reforms. I look forward to hearing how these changes will affect their officers and the scope of their current functions. 

The Committee will be asking the Minister for Policing and Criminal Justice about his strategic vision for the new landscape and to explain how the gaps left by the closure of the NPIA will be filled”.
