PASC to hear from Sir Ronald Cohen on Big Society Bank

This will be the Committee’s third evidence session of its Inquiry into the Big Society and will focus on how the Big Society will be financed, taking evidence from experts in the social finance field, including Sir Ronald Cohen, Independent Advisor to the Cabinet Office on the Big Society Bank, and founder of the private-equity industry in Europe

The Committee will be exploring the role of government in opening up sources of investment for social enterprises and charitable groups.

Particular issues that may arise include:

  • The role of the Big Society Bank;
  • The current state of the social investment market and how it can be developed; and 
  • lessons to be learnt from successful social enterprises.
