New Chair of UK Statistics Authority

PASC (the Public Administration Select Committee) will hold a pre-appointment hearing on Tuesday 28 June, examining the professional competence and personal independence of the Government's preferred candidate for the post of Chair of the UK Statistics Authority – Professor Dame Janet Finch DBE, DL.
Dame Janet is currently Emeritus Professor of Sociology at Manchester University, following her retirement in August 2010 from the post of Vice-Chancellor of Keele University. She is the independent Co-Chair of the Council for Science and Technology, the government's most senior advisory body for Science. Dame Janet also holds non-executive appointments in a range of public and private sector bodies.
The session is open to the public and will be held in Committee Room 18, starting at 10.15 am.
