The Backbench Business Committee is responsible for scheduling debates on 35 days during the current session, at least 27 of which will be debates in the main Chamber of the House of Commons, with the remainder to be taken in Westminster Hall.

The Committee has determined that the following business will take place in backbench time:

Additional item of business for Thursday 23 June in the Chamber

Publication of a select committee report: Transport Select Committee: The Coastguard, Emergency Towing Vessels and the Maritime Incident Response Group.

The Backbench Business Committee has scheduled this motion at the start of business to enable the Chair of a select committee to present a report which is being published on that day. The Chair will speak for up to 20 minutes, taking interventions from members on issues relating to the report.

Thursday 30 June in Westminster Hall

Co-operatives and mutuality in the economy (Members in charge: Mr Adrian Bailey and Chris Evans)

The Committee was told that many of the Government’s legislative proposals include a mutual or co-operative element and that a number of backbench Members wished to debate this subject during Co-operatives Fortnight.
