Children's Rights expert gives evidence in one-off scrutiny session

Marie Staunton, UK member of the Management Board of the EU’s Agency for Fundamental Rights and CEO of Plan UK, a worldwide organisation which works with children in 60 countries on grassroots development work, appeared before the House of Lords EU Sub Committee on Social Policies and Consumer Protection on Thursday 9 June

As part of the Committee’s scrutiny into the EU Agenda for the Rights of the Child, Marie Staunton was asked about topics such as:
- how effectively the recently agreed human trafficking Directive tackles the issue of child trafficking
- Whether children are aware of their rights and what role the EU can play in increasing this
- If Member State authorities are cooperating well enough in exchanging examples of best practice
The evidence session took place at 9.45am, Thursday 9 June in Committee Room 2 of the House of Lords.
