In 2007-08 the previous Home Affairs Committee’s published a detailed report on domestic violence, forced marriage and “honour” based violence. It undertook a brief follow-up inquiry in 2009-10.

Witnesses:

At 12.15 p.m.
• Nicola Harwin, Women’s Aid
• Nicola Sharp, Refuge

At 12.45 p.m.

Committee Chair, Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP, said:

“We will assess how the Government’s new action plan on Violence Against Women and Girls will ensure continued progress towards meeting the Committee’s recommendations, particularly in the light of new information that reveals 60% of refuge services and 72% of outreach services have no funding agreed from 1st April 2011.”
