Updated Business to be taken on Thursday 10 March

The Backbench Business Committee is responsible for scheduling debates on 35 days during the current session, at least 27 of which will be debates in the main Chamber of the House of Commons, with the remainder to be taken in Westminster Hall.
The Committee has determined that the following business will take place in backbench time:
Thursday 10 March in the Chamber
Publication of a Select Committee Report: Mr Bernard Jenkin, on behalf of the Select Committee on Public Administration (for approximately 15 minutes)
The Committee has scheduled this motion at the start of business to enable the Chair of a select committee to present a report which is being published on that day. The Chair will speak for approximately 15 minutes, taking interventions from members on issues relating to the report.
Motion relating to UN Women (Members in charge: Mrs Eleanor Laing, Sheila Gilmore, Mary Macleod and Joan Ruddock) (until approximately 4.30pm)
The Committee chose this subject because it heard of significant support from Members for a debate to mark International Women’s Day on 8 March. The subject proposed also offers the opportunity to debate an Early Day Motion (EDM 1318).
Motion relating to future inter-parliamentary scrutiny of EU foreign, defence and security policy (Member in charge: Richard Ottaway)
The Committee was told that a debate on future inter-parliamentary scrutiny of EU foreign, defence and security policy needed to take place as soon as possible so that the views of the UK Parliament can be taken account in discussions on successor arrangements for the Western European Union. The Committee heard that 90 minutes should be allowed for this debate.

Future of the Coastguard Service (Members in charge: Sarah Newton, Bill Esterson, Dr Sarah Wollaston and Mr Angus Brendan MacNeil).
The Committee was told that a debate on the future of the Coastguard Service would be particularly topical and would attract interest both within and outside the House in the light of the current consultation.
Tuesday 5 April in the Chamber
General debate on matters to be raised before the forthcoming adjournment.
The format for this debate will follow the previous pre-recess adjournment debate. Members will be invited to apply to speak on a subject of their choice for no more than 10 minutes, specifying from which government department they would like a response. Speeches will then be grouped into subject areas and in the case of the departments in respect of which the highest number of applications has been received, the relevant Minister invited to respond to the issues raised.
