MPs continue inquiry into the New Landscape of Policing

This is the Commons Home Affairs Committee's second evidence session for its inquiry into the New Landscape of Policing. This session will focus on where functions will go in the new landscape, with particular emphasis on the future of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), and the proposed new National Crime Agency.

The Committee will be receiving evidence from Sir Hugh Orde, the President of the Association of Chief Police Officers, and Mick Creedon, Chief Constable of Derbyshire; and from Sir Ian Andrew, Chair, and Trevor Pearce, Interim Director General of the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA).

The session will start at approximately 11am with Sir Hugh Orde and Mick Creedon's evidence, followed by that of Sir Ian Andrew and Trevor Pearce.

"The future of policing in Britain greatly depends on where the current police functions are repositioned within the new landscape and which organisations take on these responsibilities. This session will be a valuable opportunity for the Committee to explore a key element of the Government’s proposals for policing reform: the creation of a new National Crime Agency to take the place of SOCA. We will also be discussing in detail the important question of what will happen to ACPO following Peter Neyroud’s recent report and his evidence to the Committee."
