PASC to hear from Lords on the Public Bodies Bill
13 May 2011
Following the passage of the Public Bodies Bill through the House of Lords the Public Administration Select Committee (PASC) will hold an evidence session examining whether further changes to the Bill are necessary. This continues the Committee’s scrutiny of the Government’s reform of public bodies on which it published a Report, Smaller Government: Shrinking the Quango State, in January.
Particular issues that may arise include:
Whether the powers the Bill gives to ministers are too broad;
- whether further safeguards are desirable; and
- what kind of Parliamentary procedure should be used to scrutinise Orders made under the Bill.
Tuesday 17th May 2011
Committee Room 21, Palace of Westminster
Witnesses:
At 10:30 am
- Baroness Thomas of Winchester, Chair, Delegated Powers and Regulatory Reform Committee
- Lord Norton of Louth, University of Hull and Member, Constitution Committee.
