Committee to Quiz the Big Six Energy Companies

The Energy and Climate Change Committee will hold two public evidence sessions on Ofgem’s Retail Market Review.

Who will give evidence?

The first session will be with the "Big Six" energy companies on Wednesday 11 May at 9.45am in Committee Room 15, Palace of Westminster.

The Committee will hear from:

  • Centrica
    Phil Bentley, Managing Director, British Gas,
  • EDF Energy
    Martin Lawrence, Managing Director, Energy Sourcing and Customer Supply,
  • E.ON UK
    Sara Vaughan, Director of Regulation and Energy Policy,
  • RWE npower
    David Mannering, Director of Economic Regulation,
  • Scottish and Southern Energy
    Alistair Phillips-Davies, Energy Supply Director, and
  • Scottish Power
    John Campbell, CEO of Scottish Power Generation.

The second session will be with Ofgem and DECC on Wednesday 22 June at 9.45am.

What will the sessions look at?

The sessions will explore the findings of Ofgem’s Retail Market Review and assess the viability of Ofgem’s initial proposals which are aimed at making competition in the market more effective and improving customer engagement through:

  • Making tariffs clearer and fairer,
  • Enhancing competition in the market,
  • Strengthening measures to increase consumer engagement, and
  • Improving reporting transparency.
