The Committees on Arms Export Controls today published a letter dated 19 October from the Chairman of the Committees, Sir John Stanley, to the Foreign Secretary. The letter asks the Foreign Secretary to answer a number of questions (outlined in Annex A) raised by the Committees relating to the Government's report: United Kingdom Strategic Export Controls Annual Report 2010 (HC 1402)

Sir John Stanley said "The Committees are carrying out a searching inquiry into the Government's arms export policies in 2010 and 2011. These questions on the Government's 2010 Strategic Export Controls Annual Report and the Government's answers to them will constitute an important element in our inquiry."

The Committees are currently undertaking an inquiry which includes examination of the Government's 2010 Annual Report on Strategic Export Controls. The inquiry is also examining the 2010 (and in part) 2011 Quarterly reports, the Government's review of arms exports to North Africa and the Middle East, and wider arms control issues (see previous press notice for more details regarding the inquiry).
