The Education Committee takes evidence on the administration of examinations for 15-19 year olds on Tuesday 29 November 2011.

The Committee announced its inquiry into the administration of examinations for 15-19 year olds in England on 12 September 2011, with submissions of written evidence invited by 7 November. The Committee has received 54 submissions so far, from a range of individuals and organisations, including teachers, examiners, examining boards, subject associations and trade unions. The committee will now begin taking oral evidence.

Purpose of the session

The aim of this session is to explore the strengths and weaknesses of the examination system from the perspective of users of qualifications: firstly with teachers who deliver qualifications and then with those who use those qualifications as indicators of achievement and as an aid in selection, namely universities and employers.
