Lords committee hears evidence on judicial appointments process

Representatives of people working in the law will give evidence to the Lords Constitution Committee for its inquiry into the judicial appointments process on Wednesday 26 October.

The Committee will ask representatives of the Bar Council, Law Society and law reform charity JUSTICE how the current system for appointing judges can be improved. The session is expected to cover issues including whether the UK should have a career judiciary and whether judicial appointments should be open to people from a range of expert backgrounds.
