Committee to visit Londonderry as Parliament goes on the road

The Northern Ireland Affairs Committee will participate in the inaugural UK "Parliament Week" by hosting a seminar at 10.00 am on Thursday 3 November at the Waterside Theatre, Londonderry, on the work of select committees and the UK Parliament’s scrutiny of legislation. The workshop will bring together local residents, community groups and students and is a great opportunity for the public to come along to find out more about how the UK Parliament works.
Northern Ireland Affairs Committee Chair, Laurence Robertson MP, said:

Parliament Week is an excellent opportunity for individuals to learn more about Parliament and how to engage in the political process. I believe that this new initiative will bring the work of Parliament closer to the people of Northern Ireland and I particularly look forward to discussing the work of the Committee and its continuing relevance to Northern Ireland."
Parliament Week is supported by the House of Commons and the House of Lords, and aims to raise awareness of Parliament and encourage engagement with the UK’s democratic system and its institutions. A number of external partners are joining with Parliament to host events about democracy and political engagement.
