Representation of Consumer Interests in Wales
13 October 2011
The Welsh Affairs Committee to hear from Consumer Affairs Minister Edward Davey MP on plans to scrap consumer focus Wales
The Welsh Affairs Committee is holding an evidence session into the representation of consumer interests in Wales.
Consumer Focus, the current statutory consumer advocacy body in Wales, operates across the whole economy with specific responsibility for the gas, electricity and postal sectors. It has been identified as one of the bodies the Government plans to abolish through the Public Bodies Bill, and it is expected that its powers and functions would be transferred to Citizens Advice. The Committee is seeking views on the impact of this change and how consumer interests in Wales should be best represented in future.
