Lords Committee hears from Facebook, Newsnight and producers on investigative journalism

The House of Lords Communications Committee will continue its inquiry into the future of investigative journalism on Tuesday 25 October 2011 when it questions experts about the concept of commissioning investigative programmes and the ever increasing ways of sourcing content for such investigations.

In the first of two sessions, the Committee will focus on the making of investigative programmes, covering subjects such as how ideas are sourced, what criteria are used to decide on the nature of stories and how the commissioning process works.
Both sessions will take place in Committee Room 2, House of Lords.

Immediately following, at 4.30 pm, the Committee will turn attention to data journalism, probing the credibility of online data, the risks that need to be considered when sourcing information for investigations online and the impact of social media on investigative journalism.
